This week we go
behind the scenes to honor a man that has had over 2 decades of
involvement with our “Home Town”. Tom is a man that loves nostalgia.
Hard to believe that a new project 20 some years ago that he helped to
mold now has a lot of it’s own nostalgia.
Steve and I were
fortunate to be invited to this celebration, a 75th Birthday, that is
actually the 3rd of October, along with a “Thank You” to him from Old
Town for his many years of service.
The “Party Room” on
the second level of one of the many “Shops” was arranged for a gathering
of Friends and Family. This included the many merchants that have become
family wishing Tom a Happy Birthday. The Old Town staff and the Cruise
Staff also attended and kept the Friday Nite Cruise running. The room
was filled with all of the “Best” for Tom who was proud to have his son
in town and he made sure that he was introduced to everyone.
Ingrid, Jerri and
the rest of the Executive Staff made everyone welcome. Vicki, Old Town’s
longest tenured employee was making sure that she archived the event by
taking many photographs.
A live band played
music at one end of the room. The cake was decorated with a Photo,
frosting of course, of the horse drawn carriage that used to run on the
Brick streets, rounding the “Fountain” that was where the newest ride
resides.
The Sutton’s,
Byron, President of the Merchant’s Association, & Norma, were
reminiscing with everyone as well. They operate the Kissimmee Popcorn
Company and their original little red wagon was the fist resident.
Chuck, Vic,
Winston, Tracy & Vicki took a little time out to enjoy the food and have
some Birthday cake too.
Larry Naddeo, Sun
on the Beach, delayed a flight so that he might attend. John Knight the
original project architect was also there with fond wishes.
Old Town is like
any other community, constantly changing and growing.
Thank
You, Tom for your years of dedication to keeping this Town of “days gone
by” up and occupied. Thank You, for letting us be your Guests on a
Friday and Saturday Nite.
Happy 75th!

Here are few photos
from Steve.
